5 Free Tools to Use for Beautiful Social Media Graphics

Connecting the community, as influencers.

Who says you need to be a graphic designer to make great custom-tailored graphics? Here’s a list of 5 free tools you can use to create beautiful social media graphics.

There is a reason Canva is first on this list. Overall, this site has the most to offer its users. It is simple to use, has a multitude of graphic elements to put into your designs, and offers an array of fonts and free stock photos. In addition to all of that, one of the key features that sets this site apart from others on this list is that Canva saves all of your designs for you so you can easily adjust and edit whenever you want.  The majority of the site is free; items that are not free cost $1 and then you have access to that item for a 24 hour period.

An editor, collage maker, and designer all in one.  While PicMonkey doesn’t offer pre-made templates, they do offer what they call “themes” to add some pizzazz to your designs. When you choose a theme, PicMonkey will then show you effects, overlays, textures, and fonts that could all be associated with that theme. Usually their themes adjust for certain times of the year, such as holidays and seasons. One additional feature that PicMonkey has that is SO GREAT, is the eyedropper tool that allows you to pick any color from your image and add it to your design. There are certain PicMonkey features that can only be accessed by “Royale” members, AKA paying members. The good news is that you can still make some awesome graphics without upgrading.

BeFunky is awesome if you are looking for some great pre-made graphics to insert into your design. If you don’t feel like making something from scratch, they offer awesome pre-made templates to use on social media. They are similar to PicMonkey in that they also offer a photo editor to crop, adjust, and enhance your photos before using them in your design. One of the fabulous features about this site is that you can instantly search for Royalty free stock photos from Pixabay directly from their site. BeFunky is free to use, but it also has paid versions which offer more effects, features and an ad-free experience.

Fotor works very similarly in nature to Canva. When you start, you can choose from pre-set design sizes; ranging from Facebook post, Instagram post, to a Twitter cover. If those don’t work, they also have the option to create a custom size. The site doesn’t offer quite as many  graphic elements to insert into your designs, but they do have the basics. They also offer both android and iOS apps. The app doesn’t offer quite as much as the web version, but does offer some fun photo editing options.

According to the site, membership is free for a limited time but does not specify for how long.
