1. Remember, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.”
While, yes, it is important to have a strategic digital marketing plan prepared, life will always throw you curveballs. You never know if or when a crisis will happen within your company. When creating and scheduling content, remember that if something crisis-like were to happen you may have to alter your content.
It’s important not just schedule your social media content and never visit your accounts. Instead, make sure to log into your social media accounts and interact with your audience. Whether the customers who reach out to you are happy or upset with your company, make sure you respond with the goal of making their customer service experience positive. Don’t respond to each customer the same way. It will make you come across as scripted. You can’t control how customers interact with you, however, you can control how you interact with them.
2. Chase after your customer’s attention.
From the moment he met Jenny, Forrest Gump knew she would be special to him. Just like Jenny, your potential customers are special. As Jenny grew older, she became harder for Forrest to reach because she was constantly changing and moving. However, he never stopped trying to connect with her. You should treat your customers the same way. Although they may not always be receptive to everything you post online, if you keep creating relevant content, eventually they will come around and fall in love with you(r brand).
3. Tell stories.
The majority of the movie is Forrest Gump sitting on a bench at the bus station telling strangers stories of his past. His storytelling is so interesting, that people eagerly listen, sometimes choosing to miss their bus so that they can hear the end of the tale. When creating content for your blog or website, keep this in mind. Draw your reader in by creating relevant content with emotional and logical appeals. By creating content that your readers enjoy, they’ll continue coming back for more.
4. Keep running
When things weren’t looking necessarily positive in Forrest’s life, he decided to start running- and it seemed as if he was never going to stop. He ran across the town, the state, and eventually, the country. When things are looking rough for you and your company, don’t give up. Instead, keep running towards your goals. Do this by interacting with your customers on social media and creating original and relevant content for your website and blog.
