2016 is creeping up on us. With that comes a time to try out some new things you might not have in the past. If you are looking for something to increase your work efficiency, stay organized, and keep records… Get a content calendar!
The calendar is key in getting a good social media strategy down pact and here’s why:
Knowing how and when you are going to be posting
Posting randomly and with no order isn’t a great idea. First things first, decide how many times you want to post a day/week. Now that you have that down, you can get a calendar and fill in the tasks you have on a weekly and daily basis. This way you can be sure that you aren’t repeating topics back to back and keep your fans and followers engaged.
You can also use this as a great tool for conceiving new ideas. By flipping through your content calendar and seeing what you’ve posted in the past, you might be able to spark some new ideas.
By planning out your content down to the day and hour, there is no more guessing game. You’ll be able to get your work done a lot faster because you have the exact day and time your content needs to be out there. This also helps you from having to flip back through all your old posts to see the last time you posted about a given topic.
Now you don’t have to come up with a calendar on your own. There are a ton of content calendars out there you can purchase. Some of our favorites are:
Hubspot’s: Completely free and comes with great instructions on how to use it .
Gather Content – Great if you are working in a team. You can assign tasks to specific team members.
CoSchedule – Not only is this a great calendar. But you can plan publish, and promote all on one site.
Google/Excel Spreadsheet – Come up with your own! You can customize it however you want and make it operate in the way that works more efficiently for you.
Let us know if you start using a content calendar and how it works out for you! Good luck!
